Kenny McFadden has been in New Zealand since the early 80's, arriving in Wellington by way of Washington State University where he starred in Coach George Raveling's programme. As a “player-coach” of the Wellington Saints he took the team to 7 straight finals appearances winning 5 NBL titles from 1982 to 1988.

Kenny retired in 1996 and founded Hoop Club which currently has over 4000 active members in the Wellington region – the largest basketball club in the country.

Kenny has been involved in the Basketball New Zealand junior development programme as a coach since 2003, and was the head coach for the Junior Tall Blacks, taking them to the FIBA U19 World Championships in 2009 in Auckland.

In 2007 Adidas invited “Kenny Mac” to be part of the Adidas Nations basketball programme where he has coached some of the best age group players in the world including teams such as Asia (blue), Latin America, and USA 2013 in recent years.

As well as his international commitments, Kenny is the President of the Wellington Basketball Association, taking responsibility for developing administration, coaches and players in the Wellington region and assisting players towards a “student-athlete” development pathway.
